Double Diamond Holidays can combine a car rental into any package.
We include a mid-size car rental in all self-drive holiday itineraries.
With triple/quad occupancy, a full-size car is included.
All vehicles rentals in our published itineraries include stated number
of rental days, unlimited mileage and one-way drop-charges for Vancouver/Calgary
(if applicable). You may choose to pre-pay your taxes and PDW (Physical
Damage Waiver) through Double Diamond Holidays Canada.
Physical Damage Waiver (PDW) - This covers any damage done on the
vehicle or loss/theft of the vehicle. It is a waiver by the rental
company of all the Renters financial responsibility for loss or damage
to the rental vehicle, provided the terms and conditions of the rental
agreement are not violated. Tour packages have a $300 deductible for
drivers' 25 years and older and $500 for drivers under 25 years of
age. PDW is not included in advertised packages unless otherwise stated.
If PDW is purchased and if the vehicle is damaged or stolen, the renter
is only responsible for paying the deductible to the rental company.
However, if the renter declines PDW, they are responsible for paying
100% of the loss to the rental company. The price of PDW varies from
location to location and can vary in price from $9.95 - $25.95/day.
Please note: The PDW is not valid when damage occurs while on an unpaved
road.
Premium Location Surcharge (PLS) - A premium
location surcharge is a mandatory fee levied on all charges before
taxes when a vehicle is picked up at an airport location. It is a
pass through surcharge levied by the airport authorities that allows
the rental company to conduct business in the airport. The cost varies
between 11.59% - 14.92% depending on the airport.
Protection Plus - An added protection option we sell at the counter
for personal and passenger coverage for accidental death and/or dismemberment.
The comprehensive coverage includes Personal Accident Insurance for
driver and passengers, Personal Effects Coverage, Legal Defense, Emergency
Road Service, Collision Towing and Emergency Travel Expenses. The
price varies from location to location but an average cost is $4.95/day.
Additional Drivers - the cost is $5/day. There is no charge for spouses
as additional drivers.
Underage Drivers - For drivers aged 21-25, the surcharge fee is $10/day.
Fines & other Expenses - The customer is responsible for paying
all parking fines, highway tolls, court costs and other expenses that
might be incurred while the car is in the possession of the customer.
The renter must present a major credit card for security deposit and
excess charges which may include taxes, Premium Location Surcharge,
PDW, drop fees, refuelling, underage and/or additional driver surcharges,
optional coverages and any other extras which are not prepaid.
