Tucked away in the heart of the Chilcotin Mountains lies a first class Wilderness Resort, the largest log lodge in the West, romantically nestled on the shores of Tyaughton Lake with views of snow-covered peaks up to 9,000 feet. You may stay in one of the spacious resort rooms, a cozy log chalet located right on the lake or one of the beachfront campsites. Activities include horseback riding from one hour to week long pack trips into the highcountry, excellent fishing, secluded hiking trails, gold panning, flight-seeing, mountain biking, four wheeling, volleyball and tennis courts, recreation & fitness rooms, and a sauna and outdoor jacuzzi. At the resort is a sandy beach with canoes, row& paddle boats, sailboats and motorboats. On warmer evenings, there may be a BBQ on the lakeshore with a campfire and singing cowboy. It is all here, a real Canadian adventure, combined with Fine Dining and First Class Facilities.

Wilderness Package: Accommodation in one of our spacious resort rooms (groups with 6 to 12 persons can also stay in one of our lakeside log chalets), all meals in our lake view dining room, a one hour floatplane flight-seeing trip over the vast Bridge River Ice fields or a two hour guided all terrain vehicle tour. Also included and available all day long on each of your full days are the following recreation activities and amenities: horseback riding, motorboats, paddleboats, rowboats, sailboat, canoes, windsurfer, fishing rods & tackle, tennis equipment, mountain bikes, recreation & fitness rooms, and an outdoor jacuzzi. You can also participate in trap shooting, archery, guided interpretive nature walks, hands-on gold panning and fly casting lessons. Grizzly Viewing Package: The grizzlies are mountain bears and differ from their brown cousins on the coast in appearance and habits. Mountain bears have a longer and thicker silvery fur. These are called silver tip grizzlies.In the spring, bears and other wildlife migrate to the first greened up valleys and south facing slopes to feed. With the melting of snow and the arrival of the summer some bears travel higher up to the alpine meadows. Besides Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Moose, Mule Deer, Mountain Goats, Big Horn Sheep, Wolves, Coyotes, Mountain Lions, Lynx, and Wolverines make their living in these valleys and mountains. Packages includes: Accommodation in spacious resort rooms or cozy lakeside log chalets (depending on group size), all meals in the lake view dining room, room tax, gratuities, tour guide and transportation on tours.

Itinerary: The morning after your arrival you will start with an orientation lesson that will introduce you to the local trails, wildlife, flora and fauna, followed by wildlife viewing techniques and bear safety procedures. Depending on where the bears are roaming, you will walk, travel by ATV’s, 4x4’s, take a boat ride, or if the guest is up to it, go on horseback. A guide will always be with you.

Fly-Out Fishing Packages: Tyax Resort is nestled on the shores of Tyaughton Lake which means “lake of the jumping fish” in the local native language and it still retains a reputation for pan-size Rainbow Trout. Other species in nearby lakes and streams include Bull Trout (Dolly Varden), Kokanee and Eastern Brook Trout. Most fish weigh 3/4 to 3 lbs. but 10 lb. Rainbows, 8 lb. Eastern Brook and 16 lb. Bull Trout have been landed. Most of the waters are custom-made for fly-casting in addition to spin fishing and trolling.

You are able to purchase fishing licenses & tackle as well as rent boats & fishing equipment at the resort. At the resort’s dock you will find the DHC-2 Beaver floatplane which will be your means of transportation into remote alpine lakes. Fly-out trips in the floatplane include the use of boats and in bigger lakes - motorboats.

You can book your fly-out trips once at the resort. Depending on airtime, these fly-out trips range between $198.00 to $330.00 per person. The most popular destination is Spruce Lake, a popular and very scenic sport fishing lake located between flowering alpine meadows. The fishing here is so good that only your fly gear will give you a real challenge. Take a packed lunch and spend the day.

Fly-Out Packages include floatplane transfer, use of boats, fishing tackle, all meals, taxes and gratuities. Rates are based on a group of four.

Transportation: The Resort is accessible by car year round. Fly-in service with the floatplane from Vancouver, Whistler and other locations is also available.

For bookings 50% of the package price is required.

Children 12 or under may deduct 50% of package rate.

Ask about rates for overnight alpine horse pack trips, snowmobiling, heli-skiing, weddings and honeymoons, camping and Christmas & New Year’s.
