This
holiday includes all the wonderful highlights of picturesque Vancouver
Island. Your vacation takes you to BC's capital city, Victoria, the
rugged west coast of Vancouver Island including Pacific Rim National
Park, Campbell River, the "Salmon Capital of the World", and
the Oceanside town of Parksville.
Day 1. Vancouver-Victoria.
Arrive Vancouver. Enjoy the sights and sounds of British Columbia's
largest city. Pick up your rental car and drive via BC Ferry to BC's
capital city, Victoria.
Day 2-3 Victoria
Enjoy the many sights of Victoria with its British colonial heritage.
Optional activities are a trolley tour or horse-drawn carriage ride
of Victoria, a visit to Beacon Hill Park, the Empress Hotel, the Parliament
Buildings, the Royal BC Museum, Crystal Gardens or the Royal London
Wax Museum to name a few of the sites.
Day 4 Victoria-West Coast (3 ½ hrs)
Drive the picturesque route to the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Along the way, you may want to stop in Chemainus, "The little
town that did." Chemainus' unique murals on many of the town's
buildings and quaint shops display the town's history. Other areas
to stop are Coombs, with its quaint shops and famous goats on the
roof, Cathedral Grove, with its giant cedars, or scenic Little Qualicum
Falls or Englishman River Falls. Enjoy the evening on the West Coast.
Day 5-6 Pacific Rim National Park
Enjoy hiking, kayaking, canoeing, sightseeing, fishing and other activities
in this beautiful area. A whale watching, bear viewing or kayaking
trip is included in your package. The activities on the West Coast
of Vancouver Island are endless and the view is exquisite.
Day 7 Ucluelet-Campbell River (3 ½ hrs)
Today you can travel along the scenic Oceanside hwy to Campell River,
the "Salmon capital of the World". Enjoy the evening in
Campbell River. Take a walk along the harbour where you can see the
fishing boats coming in with their day's catch. Admire the many yachts
moored in the harbour and you may even see cruise ships going by.
Day 8-9 Campbell River
Explore Campbell River or picturesque Quadra Island by mountain biking,
kayaking, or hiking the many trails. Included is a half-day of saltwater
salmon fishing on board a 17" Boston Whaler, a whale watching
tour or wildlife cruise. Other optional activities are snorkeling
with the salmon or taking a trip by Sea and Air. For some Aboriginal
heritage, visit the Wei Wai Kum house of Treasures, Campbell River
Museum, or enjoy native dancing at Gildas Box of Treaures Theatre.
Day 10 Campbell River - Parksville (1 ½ hrs)
Enjoy the scenic Island Highway back to Parksville. Spend the evening
strolling along Rathtrevor Beach with its beautiful white sand and
a tide that goes out forever.
Day 11 Parksville
Relax at the beautiful seaside resort town of Parksville. Enjoy the
beach or a round of golf. Optional activities in the area are a Rainforest
Tour, a game of golf, or visit the Horne Lake Caves for some spelunking.
Day 12 Parksville-Vancouver (1 ½ hrs driving time)
Drive to Nanaimo or Victoria. Take the BC Ferry back to Vancouver
and return the rental car. Your Vancouver Island Adventure is at an
end.
